Community Service Projects:

2014-2015 school year

  • As sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society, I organized a school-wide drive for the Bell Center, an Early Intervention Program in Birmingham.  We collected over 20 bags of supplies for their students. We also volunteered in the community garden, served as waiters and waitresses at a scholarship banquet, dug up 1600 daylilies to sell for Relay for Life, participated in a 5K, volunteered at City-Wide Clean-Up Day, and Bagged for Tips.  In fact, our 60 student members worked a total of 393 individual service hours and 549 group service hours, and raised over $12,000 for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

2013-2014 school year

  • As sponsor for the National Junior Honor Society, I led 110 students in raising $11,000 for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
  • I organized ten Saturday's worth of volunteer labor for Vapor Thrift Store.  During which, over 100 people donated nearly 250 hours of their time to help this worthy cause.
  • I organized a collection drive for Vapor Sports Ministries. We sent 10 boxes worth of athletic gear to the Vapor Soccer Camp in Africa.

2012-2013 school year

  • I organized a collection drive of blankets and cold-weather clothing for Jimmy Hale Missions and Jessie's Place for Women and Children.  We delivered 24 bags of collected items.
  • The NJHS, over which I am sponsor, raised $8,000 for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
